From time to time I teach
undergraduate geology courses. I have taught at Arizona State University
in Tempe, South Mountain Community College in Phoenix and Fairleigh Dickinson
University in Teaneck, N.J. My courses have included introductory physical
geology, introductory historical geology and lab, introductory oceanography,
and Technical Writing for Geologists. In Technical Writing, I worked with
undergraduate and graduate students and postdocs on their theses, manuscripts
and proposals.
Because my students are usually not science majors, I always include an
introduction to fundamental science topics, such as plate tectonics and
evolution. I also discuss current environmental problems, including ozone
depletion and global warming, in simple scientific terms.
